This category tracks all uses of #define, #local, #preview, and #unset. Setting variables may or may not be reliable in MediaWiki 1.35+ and definitely won't be in current versions of Parsoid, since there's no guarantee that variables will be defined before they're used. For simple cases, {{#define:A|B}} can be converted to {{{A|B}}} repeatedly throughout a template. For more complex cases, or for uses of #local/#unset, the entire template should probably be converted to a Lua module.
