Quest-Related Dialogue[edit]

When you approach him:

"Who wants to assist the Collegium?"
(?)

The first time you approach him for a job, he will greet you with the following:

"I represent the Collegium Praxis and its myriad of masters and scholars in search of assistance from brawny and tawdry adventurers.
And dare I say, you fit the description perfectly."

With subsequent jobs, he'll greet you with one of the following:

"The work of the Collegium Praxis keeps Sunport alive and well, adventurer. Care to play your part?"
"Are you looking for a bit of coin, adventurer? The Collegium Praxis is always in search of helping hands willing to get a little dirty."
"What luck! A responsible and seemingly capable adventurer! They're so rare in these dangerous times. May I have a word?"
"The Collegium Praxis is never without need of an extra helping hand. The work we do is rigorous and never-ending after all. Interested in making a little coin?"

After accepting a quest:

"I'm sure you have everything under control. You do have everything under control, correct?"
"I'm sure you'll have no problem with such a simple task."
"Return when you have something worthwhile to report."
"You know what they say, the early guarling gets their pick of the garden."

Returning to him after completing your task, he may say one of the following:

"Is that a fiendish grin I spy? Tell me. Did you succeed?"
"You've returned at last. How did things go, adventurer?"
"You certainly haven't returned to me empty handed, have you?"
"Mud? Sweat? Oh, I do love the smell of field research. Tell me, how did it go?"

If you finished your daily quest for the day:

"I may have something for you later, but not right now. Check with me tomorrow and we'll see."
"I respect your eagerness, but I've no pressing tasks. That can change, though, so come back tomorrow."
"I have matters sufficiently under control for the moment. Perhaps tomorrow, eh?"
"Do I have anything for you today? I'm afraid not. Feel free to check with me later."

You also have the option of asking Lector Volonaro about himself, the work and Eastern Solstice:

What do you need help with?
"Not just myself, but the Collegium Praxis as a whole. The work we do is crucial to the survival and sustainability of Sunport. Therefore, I'd argue the tasks on offer are, without question, vital."
Tell me about these tasks.
"They run the gamut. Addressing the needs of scholars from the College of Cultivation to that of Sea and Sword, and all those in between. Solstice is a dangerous island and, at times, exceeds the skills of our docents.
That's where you come in."
Who are you?
"You can call me Volonaro, proud lector of the Collegium Praxis. My family came here with Clan Corelanya centuries ago and, if you don't mind a little boasting, my name commands respect around here. You'd do well to remember that."
What can you tell me about the eastern side of the island? (Before Eastern Solstice is accessible)
"Terribly little I'm afraid. Oh, I know what it used to be like, but who knows what the Worm Cult has been doing over there. Stirk scouts report that cultists, Daedric monstrosities, and horrors abound. Not to mention a Reverse Planemeld."
What's a Planemeld?
"It is the collapse of one plane of existence into another. Molag Bal attempted to pull Nirn into his realm of Coldharbour before. Now these Worm Cultists wish to pick up where he left off. Except this time, they are pulling Coldharbour into Nirn."
They're pulling Coldharbour into Nirn?
"Seems nearly impossible to wrap your mind around, doesn't it? But it's all the more reason we must continue to push into the eastern side of the island. Your help in these endeavors will be invaluable."

Candleflies for the Dead[edit]

What's your trouble?
"The Tide-Born have a tradition of releasing candleflies to quell the restless dead. The College of Rituals has taken it upon themselves to continue this tradition in Tainted Leel, an abandoned Argonian village now infested with the undead."
And you need my help to release these candleflies?
"Indeed. Take these candleflies and release them in the locations I've marked on your map. And do take care. Given our sordid history, the Collegium Praxis believes it is important to honor these Argonian traditions.
Return here for your pay."
I'll release the candleflies.

Once you accept the task, you can ask some questions:

You mentioned a sordid history with the Argonians?
"Yes, well, the years immediately following the arrival of High Elves on Solstice were not filled with compassion and understanding. While it has been centuries since then, the Collegium Praxis wholeheartedly believes we must work to rebuild trust."
And the candleflies are a part of that?
"Absolutely. The Argonians of Solstice have a tapestry of traditions that maintained balance on this island. Our arrival disrupted that. The College of Rituals wishes to aid the stewards of Solstice, the candleflies being one part of their efforts."
Have these efforts help rebuild trust?
"I like to believe so, yes. Sunport's relationship as a whole with the Tide-Born has been one of cordiality in recent years. We are welcomed in Shell-Tide and its associated villages with open arms. Provided we continue to behave, of course."

After you return from the Tainted Leel:

I released the candleflies at Tainted Leel as you requested.
"Delightful! And tell me, did you actually run into any ghosts? You know what. Don't tell me. Wouldn't want to spoil the surprise if I ever decide to visit the village myself.
And, of course, your payment."

Sanguine's Solace[edit]

(?)
I gathered Sanguine's solace for you.
"Ah, Sanguine's solace. Intriguing bit of flora. Pungent in a way that transcends scent. I daresay it's like the aroma of a dream, or memory perhaps. Strange.
Here, payment for your efforts."

Save the Ruins![edit]

I'm interested. What do you need?
"The College of Stones is interested in restoring ruins near Sunport's Bay Forest that could prove vital in the control of the island's waterways. There's only one problem—their restoration efforts are being impeded by horrid beasts."
You want me to kill the beasts?
"Something so crude would only provide temporary aid. No, I need someone to place these alchemical deterrents. They'll encourage the beasts to avoid the area and, by extension, the College of Stones' builders. And, of course, you'll be paid."
I'll place the alchemical deterrents for you.

On you accept the job, Lector Volonaro will hand you the Alchemical Deterrent and you have the option of asking about the devices:

Tell me about these alchemical deterrents.
"They are a remarkable tool from the College of Cultivation. It's a censor which contains a variety of dry herbs and potent resins. When its contents are lit, they produce a noxious gas that deters even the most territorial of beasts."
Is it safe?
"Is it safe? Oh. You're serious. Of course it's safe. The Collegium Praxis would never place anyone in direct, or indirect, danger. Knowingly.
The gas produced is rather rancid, and does stick to clothing, but it's otherwise harmless."
Will this permanently keep the beasts away?
"No, it's only a temporary solution. But it shouldn't destabilize the local ecology. They will simply provide the builders with time to make progress on the ruins. Though, I imagine complaints of the smell will be in our future."

You can then go to the Xi-Tak Ruins and place the deterrants before returning to Lector Volonaro to complete the task:

I placed the alchemical deterrents.
"Good, good! Now work on the ruins can continue swiftly and with far fewer builders complaining of bites and bruises. I mean, really. How hard can it be to place a bandage and get back to work?
Here, your pay."
