Viola's House Lock[edit]
I noticed that someone listed it as a Master lock. It was an Expert when I checked just now. If it's changing for different people, it could possibly be a leveled lock, but needs confirming because I can't tell if it was put down as Master by accident. Aresvallis 02:31, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
It was a master lock for me. Starbucksisevil 00:29, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
- Mine was an expert lock. I saved right before I picked the lock. The first couple times I tried resulted in a bounty for breaking a pick; I checked and I didn't see any guards so it might have been a bug. After the 3rd load no bounty for failed attempts. — Unsigned comment by 75.80.97.155 (talk) on 23 December 2011
Rewards[edit]
For me Viola's reward and Revyn's reward are the same and both are leveled amounts. If this isn't the case for anyone please post. The wiki makes it seem like you could net more or less for Viola at an amount of 1000 gold. — Unsigned comment by 75.80.97.155 (talk) on 23 December 2011
- I only got 800 gold at level 23. Is the chart wrong, is this a glitch, or what? Aven Ice-Heart (talk) 06:30, 16 June 2013 (GMT)Aven Ice-Heart
- Are you sure you only got 800? You should have gotten 1000, which is close enough to 800 that it seems more likely that you made some sort of mistake rather than the game? No offense intended here, there just isn't any leveled list where you would get 800 gold at your level. There doesn't seem any likely reason for the game to jump to 800 gold for you, thus, you MIGHT have made a mistake. Jeancey (talk) 06:46, 16 June 2013 (GMT)
- No offense taken. It's always best to start with the simplest solution, and I assume my own error first as well. I double checked before posting, and checked again just now. It says "Gold (800) added" and my gold goes from 9477 to 10277. It happens whether I get Viola's reward or Revyn's. Aven Ice-Heart (talk) 08:06, 16 June 2013 (GMT)Aven Ice-Heart

After planting ring, Sadri locks down shop during normal business hours[edit]
I ran into a minor bug where after planting the ring and returning to Sadri's Used Wares, I found the shop locked up even though it was during the day. Waited several hours; still locked. Slept at the inn and returned the next day; still locked. I picked the lock to get in but Sadri just tells me to leave. Finally I tried leaving Windhelm then returning to the shop, which apparently fixed the problem allowing me to finish the quest. //Vinifera7 23:19, 23 December 2011 (UTC)
- Had the same problem. As I'm on PC, I just used the console command "unlock" on Sadri's door, and then talked to him to complete the ring quest. Doing that probably doesn't count as trespassing so he didn't tell me to leave.--88.245.237.130 17:57, 21 January 2013 (GMT)
Also had the same problem on PC. Unlock on door didn't work for me, I was still trespassing. I used console command "resetAI" on Sadri and then was able to finish the quest.
not radiant[edit]
this quest is only given to you by Sadri, and the only options are to put it in the drawers or give it to Viola, if no one objects I'm going to remove the radiant options. (Eddie The Head 07:07, 21 January 2012 (UTC))
Skyrim:That Was Always There Bug[edit]
After getting the quest from the dunmer vendor. "Alies=Quest item" was the quest log I got. But the ring never came in to my inventory. I used the console player.additem 000403a9 to get the ring but the dresser nor Viola triggers for the quest. — Unsigned comment by 110.11.209.228 (talk) on 11 March 2012
Can't place the ring where it belongs![edit]
Revyn gave me the quest and I broke in into that house but the dresser can only be opened normally, there is no option to place the ring and I can't place it manually because it's a quest item! What's up with that, is that a known bug? --Nv4dispbluescreen (talk) 11:44, 26 September 2012 (GMT)
- Is your quest marked as "active" ?--Bachibouzouk5 (talk) 01:07, 14 November 2012 (GMT)
- Well, for some reason it worked when I tried it again. No idea what was going wrong. --Nv4dispbluescreen (talk) 10:20, 4 February 2013 (GMT)
Nilsine not moving from Viola's door[edit]
I don't normally do this quest, but my khajiit was heading to Windhelm to pick up the White Phial quest, and I decided to do a couple of Thieves Guild side jobs for Windhelm while I was there. Vex assigned me Viola Giordana's house for the sweep job, so I decided I might as well help out Sadri while I was at it.
I made it over to Viola's house at about 1:30 PM, and Nilsine Shatter-Shield was standing in the street looking straight at the door to Viola's house. I thought that Nilsine normally walked a circuit around the city when she was done browsing the stalls in the market, so I just stood there thinking that she would eventually take off. Well, she finally did, but not until it was 6:00 PM. Of course by that time, I expected Viola to be heading home soon, and I wondered if this was normal behavior for Nilsine when you have Viola's ring. Has anyone else gone to return Viola's ring and had Nilsine stand unmoving in the street staring straight at Viola's door for four to five in-game hours? Or is that what she does even if you don't have Viola's ring? Or was she just glitching? If I remember correctly, the one or two times I killed Nilsine for Muiri, Nilsine barely stopped moving once she left the market.

- And she still hangs out there in the afternoons long after I completed That Was Always There. FWIW Valeria (talk) 21:03, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
- Edited to Add: Except that she didn't do it later when I was running around the city verifying that certain people were still alive. It was only when I stopped at Viola's house to wait for her to come out that Nilsine planted herself in the street again. Maybe it's something she does if you're loitering near a doorway? Or maybe Skyrim is just wholly inconsistent and it's pointless to try to figure out what's happening with it. And it doesn't help my temper to realize that Viola probably wasn't home and that her door is probably still open from when my character returned that stupid ring days and days if not weeks ago.
